TUI-NA THERAPY
We all feel the effects of the fast pace of modern life.
This is mixed with reduced physical activity, poor eating habits, and increasing mental exertion. These consequences manifest as headaches, migraines, tension around the eyes, stiff neck and shoulders, anxiety, and stress.
These consequences are especially pronounced towards the evening, and that’s when a massage would often be welcome.
Traditional Chinese therapy and massage, also called tuina, is known worldwide as a therapy that primarily helps relieve headaches, migraines, lower back pain, fatigue, menstrual cramps, and the like. The word tuina comes from the words tui and na, which mean push and grasp or lift, and are two of the basic techniques.
Tuina is a Chinese type of therapy and has been used as part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for the last four thousand years. It is based on the traditional TCM theory of the flow of qi (life energy), which is the basic therapeutic tool. By massaging muscles and ligaments, tuina tries to establish a more harmonious flow of qi through the energy channels, thereby enabling the body to heal itself – balance is established in the body. Balance in the body and life is the main guiding principle of tuina therapy.
The goal of each massage technique is to relax muscles and tendons, enable the unhindered flow of energy along the meridians (energy channels), eliminate the effects of external and internal disease factors, improve blood flow, and eliminate blood flow stagnation. In addition, the massage also alleviates cramps, pain, and adhesions. It not only eliminates the consequence but always eliminates the cause of the problem, thereby preventing the recurrence of certain consequences (cramps, panic attacks, etc.). Chinese tuina therapy and massage are performed along the meridians and corresponding acupuncture points. Local massage is performed on these, which has the same effect as acupuncture (using thin needles), except that tuina therapy only uses pressure on certain points.
Tuina is suitable for anyone who needs therapy due to specific problems of the locomotor system (skeleton, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons) and chronic and acute problems of the digestive, reproductive, and respiratory systems. It improves circulation, has an analgesic effect, has a beneficial effect on psycho-physical balance, and improves well-being.
